Open to Buy is a concept that is used throughout the retail industry.  It has a reputation of being very complex, difficult to understand, and even more difficult to put into place.  We have worked with industry leaders and specialists to come up with an open to buy solution which directly integrates to Microsoft Retail Management System (RMS) and, most importantly, makes the process of creating your open to buy plans, updating sales and inventory data, and putting an open to buy strategy to use straight forward and easy!  The result is a huge savings in inventory cost, and an increase is sales because you are able to make better, faster, and more accurate buying decisions.


 

                        

 Setup and Basic Budget Planning

The basic budgeting information for the organization is entered on the annual shop setup screen, including basic budgets, cost of sales, turns, etc.   

Each Department can have unique performance standards; you can fine tune the department figures on the Annual Setup—Departments screen.   As you make your entries, recalculations are made at the Shop Level and copied down to the Category Level. 

The Setup—Categories screen is the primary management screen and profit generator.  Every Category can have it’s own performance standards which are calculated by the program if a full year of past history is available.   As each entry is made, the “Average Inventory” is recalculated and savings can be reviewed.   All previous entries at the Department and Store level are recalculated to reflect the detail entered at the Category level.

Integrated directly to RMS Store Operations, with a simple click of a button, you get all of your important data imported into OTBW in an instant!

 

 

 Open to Buy; Ready to Use

The O-T-B Report is dynamically updated and ready to use.   The Program always opens with the current month in the left column and displays a seamless calendar for 12 forward months.  This provides simple solutions to the two tough questions – How much to Buy, and When to have it delivered.   That leaves the Buyer full discretion to choose vendors and merchandise.   The Departments can be expanded to display Categories for more detailed analysis.

Retail performance data is also available at your finger-tips with built in reports, including: Executive Summary Report, Annual Comparison Report, Shop Report, Plan vs. Actual, etc.
